4-Andro Liquid

Product Details: 4-Andro Liquid

4-Andro Liquid contains 4-androstenediol (4-Andro), a steroidal compound studied in laboratory settings as a precursor in androgen biosynthesis pathways. It is supplied strictly for research purposes and is not intended for use outside controlled experimental environments.

In biochemical research, 4-androstenediol is examined for its role as an intermediate in steroidogenesis. It can undergo enzymatic conversion into downstream androgenic compounds, allowing researchers to investigate how steroid hormones are synthesized and regulated in cellular systems. [1][2]

Mechanism of Action

In vitro studies demonstrate that 4-Andro functions as a substrate for 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3β-HSD), a key enzyme in steroidogenesis.

This enzymatic process involves:

• In laboratory research, 4‑Andro (4‑androstenediol) is studied as a substrate for the enzyme 3β‑hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3β‑HSD). [1]
• 3β‑HSD catalyzes two main chemical changes in Δ5 steroids: it oxidizes the 3β‑hydroxyl group to a ketone and isomerizes the Δ5 double bond to a Δ4 double bond in the steroid structure. These changes transform Δ5 steroids into Δ4 steroids like androstenedione and testosterone in biochemical pathways. [2]

As a result, 4‑Andro that undergoes these reactions produces other androgen pathway intermediates in controlled lab experiments. These intermediates are used to study how enzymes and hormone precursors work in androgen synthesis pathways.
