Melanotan II

Product Details

Melanotan II is a synthetic peptide classified as an analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α–MSH), a peptide involved in melanocortin receptor-associated signaling pathways in biochemical research.

Within laboratory settings, Melanotan II is examined for its interaction with melanocortin receptors and its role in modulating signaling cascades associated with pigment-related molecular pathways. Its peptide structure enables it to participate in receptor-binding studies and intracellular signaling investigations.

This compound is supplied strictly for in vitro research applications and is not intended for use in living systems.

Mechanism of Action

Melanotan II is characterized in research as a melanocortin receptor agonist, interacting primarily with melanocortin receptor subtypes involved in intracellular signaling pathways.

At the molecular level, it is studied for its binding affinity to melanocortin receptors (MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, and MC5R), where it participates in receptor-mediated signaling cascades. These interactions are associated with cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) pathway activation and downstream signaling processes.
